CUG International Students Presidential Elite Scholarship (CUG Elite Scholarship)

Program Introduction

International Students Presidential Elite Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as CUG Elite Scholarship) is set by China University of Geosciences (CUG), which is used to encourage qualified international students who would like to pursue master and Ph.D. programs at CUG, especially for university teachers, scholars and government officials from one belt and one road countries.

There are limited opening of CUG Elite Scholarship available for excellent and bright self-supported students this year. The scholarship application is open now.

Application Eligibility

1. Non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, be in good health, under the age of 35 for Master degree, under the age of 40 for Ph.D. degree; and under the age of 45 for General visiting scholar; under the age of 50 for Senior visiting scholar；

2. Applicants must have a required bachelor’s degree or above;

3. Accepted by the CUG relevant faculty or be in the recommended list published by admission office;

4. University teachers, scholars and government officials from one belt and one road countries are more preferred.

Scholarship Coverage

CUG awards International Students Presidential Elite Scholarship who has excellent academic background and language proficiency. CUG Elite Scholarship is Partial Scholarship. Scholarship amount is up to 28,000 RMB for the first year.

     April 15, 2018-June 15, 2018

Application Procedure:

1. Online Registration: please apply via online application platform of CUG (http://admission.cug.edu.cn/), fill out personal information and upload the photocopy of passport, notarized bachelor’s & Ph.D. diploma, academic transcripts, study plan, two recommendation letters, guarantee’s information, acceptance letter and any other documents to support your application.

2. Submit Application Documents: After completed online application and documents preparation, please send one set of hard copies of all application documents to Admission Office of International Education College of CUG. Whether enrolled or not, no application documents submitted by applicants will be returned.

Application Documents:

1. Application Form downloaded from the CUG website;

2. Photocopy of a valid passport(If available)；

3. Notarized highest diploma; or Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. Documents must be in Chinese or English.

4. Academic transcripts; Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

5. Two Recommendation Letters. Applicants must submit two recommendation letters signed by associate professor or above from your graduate university. The applicants applying for visiting scholar from Partner University, Education institute and Government department need to submit one recommendation letter from your current organization.

6. A personal statement（written in Chinese or English）which should be a minimum of 800 words, with learning and working experiences, application reason and study plan.

7. Photocopy of language (English) proficiency certificates.

8. Financial support certificate, which can be downloaded from the CUG website http://iec.cug.edu.cn/;

9.“Physical Examination Record for Foreigners” (within six month, and printed by Chinese quarantine authority) a copy can be obtained from，which can be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua;

10. Other additional documents (e.g. acceptance letter by CUG professors, award certificates, paper and publications);

Note: Language proficiency: English native speakers do not need to provide the certificate; English non-native speakers should provide the certificate of TOEFL or IELTS test score, or other certificates with the same level’s certificate (If available); HSK certificate (If available); Applicants whose highest education is taught in English/Chinese can provide certificate of teaching language.

Admission and Enrollment

1. If you already submitted your documents for the scholarship and accepted in the nominated list, just replenish CUG Application Form;

2. CUG admission committee will determine the final results of the admission according to the application documents students submitted, and announce the admission list on the website and send the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form (JW202) to the awardees at the end of June every year.  

3. Students must go through the Annual Review of the school. The scholarship will be terminated if the student fails in Annual Review.
