China University of Geosciences (Wuhan)
2019/2020 Chinese Government Scholarship University Program
(1) Applicants must complete CSC online application in advance. The deadline for online application is April 1, 2019, and deadline for receiving paper application materials is April 10.
(2) The applicants must fill in with the correct information on the CSC website and the attachment must be uploaded completely. The information on CSC application form ought to be correct and complete. Since the admission office will contact the applicants, applicants must ensure that the information about contact addresses and email addresses is accurate. (Admission office will use the permanent address to send the Admission Notice and e-mails, making sure that the information is accurate).
(3) Please refer to http://iec.cug.edu.cn/ for the detailed application requirements and information. If there’s any further question, please contact the admission office by e-mail via overseas@cug.edu.cn and the e-mail subject should be “2019 CSC scholarship application”.
(4) The applicants should carefully read the requirements for language and academic proficiency of each major on “Catalog for International Students Master Candidates of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan)” and “Catalog for International Students Doctoral Candidates of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan)”. Those whose native language is English can be exempted from submitting relevant English language proficiency certificates. International students who have TOEFL / IELTS, HSK Level 4, Level 5, Level 6 certificates and international students who have published 1-2 academic papers are welcomed to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship.
(5) Applicants need to contact with the professors/ Supervisors of CUG in advance. Please do not send group mail and the e-mails sent to the professors are supposed to be informative, including personal introduction, language proficiency, research plan, motives for application and other information. The professors will review the applicants according to the major studies, language ability and academic competence, then issue the "acceptance letter" to the qualified students. This letter only serves as the professors’ approval of the academic ability of students and it does not serve as a proof of winning the scholarship. The letter is also required to be submitted as an attachment to the application on CSC website.
(6) After you send the application materials, there is no need to contact by phone or email to inquire whether the materials have been received or not. The admission office will arrange the received application materials regularly and download the student application materials from the CSC website. The applicants must make sure that the mailing materials and CSC online application materials are complete. Applications with incomplete materials will be considered invalid.
(7) From 2019, the length of major study for master degree is 3 years and the length for doctoral degree is 4 years. Students who apply for Chinese-taught program but have not obtained HSK Level 4 or above or does not meet the language requirements of the school, need to have an extra 1-year Chinese language tutoring.Applicants should choose the majors according to the catalog of majors. If the majors that the applicants choose are not offered by our university, the corresponding applications will be deemed as invalid.
(8) The diploma and transcript in the application materials must be notarized (in Chinese or English). One of the two letters of recommendation should come from the professor/teacher of the university where the highest diploma was obtained and the recommender’s signature and email need to be provided for further verification.
(9) All application materials are subject to rigorous examination by CUG. If any cheating or fraud is found, the applicant’s qualification for applying for Chinese Government Scholarship will be cancelled immediately and permanently.
