The Belt and Road “Tour of Elites” Summer Camp

I. Program Introduction

 To increase the attraction of professional advantages and subjects in CUG for international outstanding students, and to strengthen the influence on international students from the “Belt and Road” countries, our university is going to invite outstanding high school teachers and students from the “Belt and Road” countries to our campus and participate in the “Tour of Elites” Summer Camp. (This program is only for the applications from senior high schools or organizations, not for personal application. It is recommended that one lead teacher should be assigned for fifteen students.)

II. School Profile

China University of Geosciences is a national key university directly affiliated to the Ministry of Education. It is a national “211 project” and a national “double-class” university. China university of Geosciences (Wuhan) is located at the bank of the east lake of Wuhan. At present, CUG has developed into a comprehensive university offering multiple disciplines with geology, geological resources, environmental studies and geological engineering technology as the main features and the coordinate developments of sciences, engineering, liberal arts, management, economics, law, education and philosophy. More than 1000 international students are now studying in CUG.

III. Camp Duration

 July 1, 2019 -- July 11, 2019

Ⅳ. Camp Fee

 The camp fee is 3000RMB per person. The expenses include: Tuition fee, accommodation, pick-up service from airport, city transportation, entrance fee for scenic spots and tour guide fees, but excludes round-trip flight and transportation fare, visa charges, international travel insurance, overspending fees on electricity, hot water, foods and personal shopping consumption. The host college will cover part of the fee for attendees. The expenses include: Living allowance, insurance during the stay in china, electricity and hot water subsidies for the dormitory. A lead teacher’s cost will be supported by CUG when the number of recommended students from one senior high school is up to 15 students.

V. Application Requirements

1. The high school students (Non-grade 3 graduates) must be from countries along the Belt and Road and be in good health with ability to apply for academic activity arrangements.

2. The applicants are supposed to have strong interest in Chinese culture and language with a plan to study and live in China.

3. Excellent academic performance with no disciplinary record at school.

4. Good abilities of expression and understanding Chinese or English.

5. The economic conditions of the family can guarantee affording individual expenses for international travel and others.

6. The applicants must participate in the project on their own free will with the permission of parents/guardians and schools.

7. Applicants are supposed to prepare passports, visas and international travel insurances after receiving the invitations.

Tip: Applicants had better apply/acquire passports themselves or School official arrangement in advance.

VI. Activities Schedule:

 “Tour of Elites” Summer Camp is divided into four parts as following:

 1. Courses about Chinese language

 2. Course of Chinese culture

 3. Historical & Cultural visiting

 4. Experience Chinese food

 * Specific activity arrangement will come out before the deadline of application.

 * Applicants who perform well will gain a priority in scholarship election of the next year.

All information and supporting documents provided for this application must be complete, true and correct. Applicants with falsified application documents will be disqualified.

VIII. Group Application Submission:

Deadline: June 5, 2019

Please send the group application of summer camp to e-mail overseas@cug.edu.cn with the details such as the contact person and contact information, the introduction and population of schools or agencies, if ever taking Chinese learning courses, the predicted number of applicants and so on. Our office will make all-round consideration and give a prompt response.
